প্রিয় শিক্ষার্থী বন্ধুরা এর আগে আমরা parts of speech সম্পর্কে আলোচনা করেছি। আজ আমার Noun সম্পর্কে বিস্তারিত ভাবে আলোচনা করবো এবং বোঝার চেষ্টা করবো।

Noun শব্দের অর্থ হলো - (বিশেষ্য)

What is Noun?

The Noun is a word which is used for giving a name of a person, place, or a thing. Noun (বিশেষ্য) হলো একটি Word যা কোনো ব্যাক্তি, বস্তু বা স্থানের নাম প্রদান করার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমনঃ

• Names of Persons - pabitra, Robin, John, Antony, Deepak, Geeta, Rehana, Kabita, Rahul.
• Names of Places - kolkata,Mumbai,Chennai, Delhi, London, New York, Dhaka etc...
• Names of Things -  book, pen, pencil, table, chair etc...

Noun কয় প্রকার ও কি কি ?

ব্যাপক অর্থে noun বা বিশেষ্য দুই প্রকার।

1. Concrete Noun - ইন্দ্রিয়গ্রাহ্য বিশেষ্যে পদ ৷
2. Abstract Noun - বিমূর্ত বিশেষ্য পদ।

1. Concrete noun :

concrete noun শব্দের অর্থ হলো - (ইন্দ্রিয়গ্রাহ্য বিশেষ্য) 

Concrete Noun কাকে বলে ?

যে Noun গুলি আমরা চোখে দেখতে পাই এবং স্পর্শ করতে পারি। তাকে বলা হয় Concrete Noun.

Types of Concrete Noun.

এই Noun কে সধারনত চার ভাগে বিভক্ত করা হয়েছে 

যেমনঃ - 

• a) Proper Noun - নির্দিষ্ট নামবাচক ।
• b) Common Noun-সধারণ নামবাচক বা জাতিবাচক।
• C) Collective Noun -  সমষ্টিবাচক।
• d) Material Noun - বস্তুবাচক ৷

2. Abstract noun :

Abstract Noun শব্দের অর্থ হল - বিমূর্ত বিশেষ্য পদ অর্থাৎ যে Noun দেখা যায় না, স্পর্শ করা যায় না কিন্তু অনুভব করা যায়।

• e) Abstract Noun-দোষ, গুণ বা অবস্থাবাচক ৷

Concrete Noun হলো মোট চারটি এবং Abstract Noun কে নিয়ে সব মোট পাঁচটি Noun.

a) Proper Noun - নির্দিষ্ট নামবাচক বিশেষ্য 

A Noun which refers to the names of particular persons, things or places are called proper noun. যে Noun দ্বারা কোনো নির্দিষ্ট ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা স্থানের নাম বোঝায়, তাকে Proper Noun বা নির্দিষ্ট নামবাচক বিশেষ্য বলে। 

Rules of proper noun 

• 1. Proper noun গুলি সর্বদা Capital letter অর্থাৎ বড়ো হতের অক্ষর দিয়ে শুরু হয়।
• 2. Proper Noun এর আগে সাধারণত কোনো Article (A, An বা The) বসে না। কিন্তু নির্দিষ্ট করে বোঝালে Article বসে। যেমনঃ  The Mallicks are rich - মল্লিকেরা ধনী ৷
• 3. ভৌগোলিক দিক থেকে প্রসিদ্ধ স্থানের নামের পূর্বে এবং বিশেষ কয়েকটি দেশের নামের পূর্বে The বসে। যেমনঃ the Punjab, the U. K., the U. S. A. etc...
• 4. কিন্তু কতকগুলি Proper Noun এর আগে যেমন নদী, পর্ব্বত, সাগর, মহাসাগর, জাহাজ, সৌধ, সংবাদপত্র প্রভৃতির নামের আগে The বসে ৷ যেমনঃ The Pacific Ocean. The Vindyas. The Bay of Bengal etc...

b) Common Noun - সাধারণ নামবাচক বা জাতিবাচক বিশেষ্য 

A Common Noun is the name given in Common to no one particular Person or thing but to any and every person or thing of the same class or kind. - যে Word দ্বারা এক জাতীয় বা বস্তুর কোনো বিশেষ বা নির্দিষ্ট একটিকে না বুঝিয়ে তাদের প্রত্যেকটিকেই বোঝায়, তাকে Common Noun বলা হয়। নীচে Common Noun এর কয়েকটি উদাহরণ দেওয়া হলো।

• Relations - mother, father, Brother, sister, Son, daughter, uncle, aunt, nephew, niece, etc...
• Things - Table, chair, book, fan, Pencil, Pen, clock, dress. etc...
• Animals and birds - Tiger, lion, bear, Cow, elephant, goat, sheep, dog . etc...
• vegetables and fruits - potato, cabbage, tomato, mango, orange, banana, apple, grapes. etc...
• Natural objects - River, sea, Sun, moon, stars, wind, Waterfall, mountain. etc...
• Conveyances - Bus, tram, van, train, lorry, aeroplane, ship. etc...

Rules of common noun 

Common noun যদি Singular number হয় তাহলে তার পূর্ব্বে সর্ব্বদাই Article অর্থাৎ a এবং an বসবে। আর নির্দিষ্ট করে বোঝালে Common noun এর singular এবং Plural number- উভয়ক্ষেত্রেই ঐ Noun এর পূর্ব্বে The বসবে।

c) Material Noun - বস্তুবাচক বিশেষ্য 

Material noun is the name of the 'matter or 'substance' of which things are made. যে পদার্থ বা উপাদান দিয়ে কোনো বস্তু বা জিনিস গঠিত হয় তাকে Material Noun বলে।

Material Noun এর কিছু উদাহরণঃ

iron, silver, gold, paper, soil, petrol, diesel, brick, sugar, oil, glass, light, cloth. etc...

Rules of material noun

• 1. Material noun এর পূর্বে সাধারণত কোন article (A, An, The) বসে না এবং এর plural হয় না।
• 2. যে উপাদান দিয়ে কোন বস্তু তৈরি হয়, তা হল material noun কিন্তু তৈরি হওয়া নতুন বস্তুটি হলো common noun যেমন leather হলো material noun কিন্তু football হলো common noun.

d) Collective noun - সমষ্টিবাচক বিশেষ্য 

A collective noun is the name of a group or 'collection' of persons or things or creatures taken as a whole. যে noun দ্বারা এক জাতীয় কিছু সংখ্যক ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা প্রানীর সমষ্টিকে বোঝায় তাকে collective noun বলা হয়।

Collective noun এর কিছু উদাহরণ 

A bundle of sticks - একগুচ্ছ লাঠি।

A bunch of flowers - একগুচ্ছ ফুল।

A herd of cows - একদল গরু।

A crowd of peoples - একদল লোক।

A gang of robbers - একদল ডাকাত।

এছাড়াও jury, committee, regiment, audience, cluster, company. ইত্যাদি এই গুলি হল collective nouns.

Rules of collective noun 

• 1. একশ্রেণীর common noun এর সমষ্টিই হল collective noun যথা একদল 'players' (common noun) এর সমষ্টি হল 'team'(collective noun).
• 2. Collective noun ও common noun একই sentence এ থাকলে শেষের noun (common noun ) টির plural হয়। যথা - A herd of cows are grazing - একদল গরু ঘাস খাচ্ছে।

e) Abstract noun - দোষ, গুণ বা অবস্থাবাচক বিশেষ্য 

An Abstract noun is the name of a quality, state or action. যে noun এর দ্বারা কোন গুণ, দোষ, অবস্থা বা কাজ ইত্যাদির নাম বোঝায়, তাকে abstract noun বলে।

Abstract noun এর কিছু উদাহরণ।

Kindness, honesty, anger, batting, bowling, poverty. এই noun গুলি হল abstract noun.

Rules of abstract noun 

• 1. Abstract noun এর পূর্বে সাধারণত article বসে না বা এদের plural হয় না। যেমন: Puri is a beautiful place - পুরি একটি সুন্দর জায়গা।They have a beautiful house - তাদের একটি সুন্দর বাড়ি আছে। Health is wealth - স্বাস্থ্যই সম্পদ। I like meat - আমি মাংস পছন্দ করি।
